In [IFC (3D) to Revit](https://beta.docs.ideatura.ai/beta/integrations/revit/ifc-to-revit.md), we brought a three-storey house into Revit. Now we will create its floor plans and exterior elevations, then save both tasks as automations you can run again.

**1. Start with the Revit model**

Open the house in Revit. The model has three levels, but the floor plans and exterior elevations have not been created yet.

![The complete Revit window with the three-storey Garden House and a Project Browser containing only 3D views.](https://mintcdn.com/ideatura-preview/wpVa9jUKBCtXICEi/beta/images/integration-guides/revit/wide-revit-before-drawings.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=wpVa9jUKBCtXICEi\&q=85\&s=078d6bb570c2d5e068a7912a4600472e)

**2. Connect Revit in a new chat**

Start a new conversation in Studio. Open Connected Apps and select the Revit project containing the house.

![The full Studio window with Connected Apps open and the Garden House Revit project selected.](https://mintcdn.com/ideatura-preview/wpVa9jUKBCtXICEi/beta/images/integration-guides/revit/portrait-drawings-connect-revit.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=wpVa9jUKBCtXICEi\&q=85\&s=b55b95ceb1031aba959a10fdfa8f3d2e)

**3. Create a floor-plan automation**

Ask Ideatura to make an automation:

> Help me create an automation for this house. I want a floor plan for each of its three levels. Name each view after its level and crop it around the building.

![Studio with the first floor-plan automation request entered in the message box.](https://mintcdn.com/ideatura-preview/wpVa9jUKBCtXICEi/beta/images/integration-guides/revit/portrait-drawings-initial-prompt.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=wpVa9jUKBCtXICEi\&q=85\&s=f30ea25d19f65bb1d58995f076c90d71)

![Studio showing the first Create floor plans automation generated from the request.](https://mintcdn.com/ideatura-preview/wpVa9jUKBCtXICEi/beta/images/integration-guides/revit/portrait-drawings-initial-card.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=wpVa9jUKBCtXICEi\&q=85\&s=f0dccaf0f20d6b191b7e1c25c70c97a4)

Click Run with params to review the Naming prefix input, then click Cancel. Next, we will add level and scale controls.

![The first automation's run dialog with a naming prefix and no level or scale controls yet.](https://mintcdn.com/ideatura-preview/wpVa9jUKBCtXICEi/beta/images/integration-guides/revit/portrait-drawings-initial-params.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=wpVa9jUKBCtXICEi\&q=85\&s=1738cae5620ecf1d4829031eb6b54c11)

**4. Add level and scale parameters**

Continue in the same chat:

> Great, now add a scale parameter and a picker so I can choose which levels to include. Select all three levels by default and use 1:100. Keep the parameter names short, and skip plans that already exist.

![Studio with the request to add level selection and scale entered in the same chat.](https://mintcdn.com/ideatura-preview/wpVa9jUKBCtXICEi/beta/images/integration-guides/revit/portrait-drawings-revised-prompt.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=wpVa9jUKBCtXICEi\&q=85\&s=83c624b3605427b30aede95fee0d7436)

![Studio showing the updated floor-plan automation beneath the refinement request.](https://mintcdn.com/ideatura-preview/wpVa9jUKBCtXICEi/beta/images/integration-guides/revit/portrait-drawings-revised-card.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=wpVa9jUKBCtXICEi\&q=85\&s=82fb1ad57e317523e19bae63c1b03cb0)

Ideatura creates an updated automation. Use this version for the remaining steps.

**5. Run the floor-plan automation**

Open the updated automation's run dialog. Select Level 01, Level 02 and Level 03, set the scale value to 100 (1:100), and run it.

![The floor-plan automation's level picker showing the three house levels.](https://mintcdn.com/ideatura-preview/wpVa9jUKBCtXICEi/beta/images/integration-guides/revit/portrait-drawings-levels-picker.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=wpVa9jUKBCtXICEi\&q=85\&s=2f2a9f33f02e15978cf007dc727ed1bc)

![The floor-plan parameters ready to run with all three levels and scale 100.](https://mintcdn.com/ideatura-preview/wpVa9jUKBCtXICEi/beta/images/integration-guides/revit/portrait-drawings-plans-ready.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=wpVa9jUKBCtXICEi\&q=85\&s=8235eb37514cd42c949af6860d190c66)

Keep Revit visible beside Studio. Once the run finishes, open the new floor plans in Revit and review the report in Studio. There should be one plan for each selected level, at 1:100.

![Studio's execution report listing three created floor plans at 1:100.](https://mintcdn.com/ideatura-preview/wpVa9jUKBCtXICEi/beta/images/integration-guides/revit/portrait-drawings-plans-report.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=wpVa9jUKBCtXICEi\&q=85\&s=96c0479315cacdd206c9dc0e641f7f8b)

**6. Create an elevation automation**

Ask for a separate automation:

> Now create a separate automation for the four outside elevations of this house: north, east, south and west. Let me choose the elevations and the scale before running it. Use 1:100 by default, fit each view to the whole building, and skip views that already exist.

![Studio with the request for a separate elevation automation entered in the message box.](https://mintcdn.com/ideatura-preview/wpVa9jUKBCtXICEi/beta/images/integration-guides/revit/portrait-drawings-elevations-prompt.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=wpVa9jUKBCtXICEi\&q=85\&s=139596dd5821d60f6486b3e9ad12a905)

![Studio showing the generated Create building elevations automation.](https://mintcdn.com/ideatura-preview/wpVa9jUKBCtXICEi/beta/images/integration-guides/revit/portrait-drawings-elevations-card.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=wpVa9jUKBCtXICEi\&q=85\&s=cf037217bf5774bbfe04599a3aebb2a9)

**7. Run the elevation automation**

Open its run dialog. Select North, East, South and West, set the scale value to 100 (1:100), and run it.

![The elevation automation's run dialog with North, East, South and West selected at scale 100.](https://mintcdn.com/ideatura-preview/wpVa9jUKBCtXICEi/beta/images/integration-guides/revit/portrait-drawings-elevations-params.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=wpVa9jUKBCtXICEi\&q=85\&s=49772c52df77345b79c5c4f7b9712d3d)

Open the resulting elevations in Revit. Check that each shows the full height of the house, including its roof. Review the list of created views in Studio's report.

![Studio's execution report listing four created building elevations at 1:100.](https://mintcdn.com/ideatura-preview/wpVa9jUKBCtXICEi/beta/images/integration-guides/revit/portrait-drawings-elevations-report.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=wpVa9jUKBCtXICEi\&q=85\&s=5529c9aaea90e33ba40a388d089af197)

**8. Save both automations to your Library**

Open the updated floor-plan automation’s three-dot menu, choose Star, keep Library selected and click Star. Repeat for Create building elevations. Save these two parameterized versions; leave the initial floor-plan version unsaved.

![Studio showing the save action for the updated floor-plan automation.](https://mintcdn.com/ideatura-preview/wpVa9jUKBCtXICEi/beta/images/integration-guides/revit/portrait-drawings-save-plans.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=wpVa9jUKBCtXICEi\&q=85\&s=3e74872215fcc2e438665be60f631638)

**9. Combine them in a chain**

Click New Chain, rename it Create house drawings, then drag Create floor plans into it first and Create building elevations second.

![The Create house drawings chain expanded in Studio, with floor plans first and building elevations second.](https://mintcdn.com/ideatura-preview/wpVa9jUKBCtXICEi/beta/images/integration-guides/revit/portrait-drawings-chain-final.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=wpVa9jUKBCtXICEi\&q=85\&s=da1a69cd6584a5cbbb9185a96ea6aa28)

**10. Run the whole drawing workflow again**

In your demo Revit project, delete only the plans and elevations created in this walkthrough. Keep the model and its levels.

Open Run chain with params. Review the level selection, elevation directions and scale for each step, then click Run Chain.

![Studio's chain parameters dialog with inputs for the floor-plan and elevation steps.](https://mintcdn.com/ideatura-preview/wpVa9jUKBCtXICEi/beta/images/integration-guides/revit/portrait-drawings-chain-params.png?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=wpVa9jUKBCtXICEi\&q=85\&s=ee66797811dd48cf86134224fd1f20d8)
